Keep Your Pup Safe & Warm This Winter!

by Pawfect Pawties on January 12, 2023

It's that time of year when chilly or downright freezing temperatures are happening all across the country, and humans are reaching for their winter coats, hats, scarves and gloves.

And, while we know what we need to do to keep warm, you might be wondering what you can do to keep your favorite furry pal nice and toasty during the cold winter months.

The first, and maybe most obvious, answer is to get them some cold-weather gear of their own. Head on over to Amazon, your favorite online boutique or your local pet store and grab a few sweaters and maybe even a jacket or vest for your pup. Make sure to take some quick measurements of their neck, chest and shoulders to make sure that you get just the right fit.

If you live in an area where there's lots of snow on the ground, consider getting your pup a pair of boots to protect their paws. Dogs can get frostbite, too!

Make sure that your pup has a nice warm spot to lay in your home. They don't want to sleep on a cold floor any more than you do. A dog bed with a cozy blanket or just a nice pile of warm blankets will keep your dog nice and warm when they're sleeping or resting.

During any extreme temperatures (hot or cold), you should keep your dog inside as much as possible. Take them outside to go to the bathroom and for a quick walk so that they get a little exercise. But don't, under any circumstance, leave them outside for an extended period of time. If you want to keep them inside and give them some exercise in your own home, there are a ton of activities that you can do with your pup to get their bodies moving and keep them busy.
